As an undergraduate student, he took various art classes including sculpture and carved his first sculpture out of a block of alabaster. Tom Prestopnik was an art teacher for thirty one years in the Martin County School system, spending the last twenty years at South Fork High School teaching drafting, painting, drawing and music history.
